Yesterday as i was speaking to Chris Dudu of Speakingtomato.com about his desire to own new guys version of Louie Vuitton a.k.a Iphone and while he was at the same time being mesmerized by Josh’s new toy HTC Diamond 2, I pointed out to him a few flaws on the LV’s specs.

As usual, for me, i always stick to substance over style. And as you all know APPLE is known to be a company that creates electronic product that focus more on style than substance.

IPOD is an example. Living legend. No radio, no extra features. And yet it is being the market leader for portable music player.

IPhone is no difference.

If you guys were to read reviews on the internet about these two phones, you will die reading it because it is long and windy.

So to help dudu to make a better choice on which phone suits him more, let me just list down their flaws briefly.

IPHONE 3G

- No 3G camera. A 3G phone that lacks a 3G video call is like Nasi Ayam without Ayam. I call it TKU = Telefon Kurang Upaya.

- GPS system needs internet to be fully functional because of the fact that the GPS does not have built in map and rely on Google Maps which of cuz needs internet connection.

- No multitasking. I am sure most users would love to do multitasking on your phone like how you do in on your PC, since i assume users who is in doubt of buying HTC or Iphone are those who are more to business and PDA oriented functionality.

- Lack of file management/transfer. You cant send files because files transfer are made using itunes and Itunes only allow music files to be transfer. The only way is to email yourself the file and download it to the IPhone. BUMMER RIGHT?

- Camera quality poor. 2mp and grainy pictures especially in low light. No basic functions like self timer, white balance and etc.

- No MMS. Yes you heard it right. No MMS. But it seems Apple has a patch for this on its latest firnware.

- Reported by CNet to have shaky 3g connection

- No user replaceable battery.

- Limited Bluetooth profile

- No FM radio. –Basic Functionality

- No Video recording

- Email Application not as powerful.

- Low battery life

- No expandable memory i.e memory card.

But i can assure you this, audio quality and video quality on this LV is definitely great. The fact that all the flaws of the IPhone 3G is all the pros of the HTC Diamond 2.
So do you want to get this phone just for style and for the audio? Minus all the necessary features? Its your choice.

-Newsflash-

IPhone 3G S has just been launch in the States which promises better features to the current IPhone 3G. It now has Video Recording, better camera quality with 3.2megapixel, a better battery life, fast processing speed, fast 3G connection and of course STILL with the rest of the flaws.

Personally i think Apple has rush a little bit with the IPhone in its bit to conquer the mobile phone industry. In just 2-3 years Apple has released 3 different IPhones and 3 different updates on its firmware with the latest being the IPhone 3.0

I would rather advice anyone who are going get the IPhone to rather wait until Apple actually matures in this industry to build a well featured phone and not releasing new model every now and then just to provide an update over the flaws of the previous model.

That is unless you have a lot of money to splash to buy a new IPhone every time it is released.

As for now, Phone 3G S will not be available anytime soon in Malaysia considering IPhone 3G was introduced to us now long ago.
