Today, while i was taking a break after an hour long of studying, i came across a talk show program on Astro Awani. The show is called CEO exchange. I bet this show is familiar to those that of you who are into the business part and etc. Well this show focus on people that have brought changes to the society and a group of young innovative entrepreneur that have tons of business ideas to be introduce to us.
CEO EXCHANGE
It’s not just a business program. It’s not just an interview program. It’s not like any other program on television.
It’s business with personality.
It’s a unique series of conversations with today’s most dynamic and visionary chief executives, and it’s returned to PBS for its fourth season.
There sat 3 brilliant, innovative middle aged adult that really amaze me not because of what they are doing now, but because of the foresight they have on the thing that they are actually doing now.
The first person to be interviewed by Jeff Greenfield is the founder of Monster.com, the number 1 job search engine in the world and Eons.com, Jeff Taylor. I don’t really remember his name but his business idea of Monster.com actually came about in his dream and the Eons idea came about while he was taking the shower. What amaze me is that he doesn’t treat these visions or ideas as a mere dream or just a random thought. He treats them as a successful business plan that will actually sell. He doesn’t have a real proper office or anything but what he has is a full scope idea of what he sees in the the future of his brilliant idea. I love particularly the part where he actually is confident with the Eons idea. Eons is actually a website that he created to cater people who has reach the second half of their life a.k.a 50 years old. It is actually a Myspace like website for the baby boomers. ‘The first half of your life has gone, now enjoy the second part’ That is what he says . He even create a search engine called Cranky for the baby boomers too. His idea really do sell out as that search engine is the world’s first age relevant search engine where the result of the search usually cater to those 50 and above and are arranged according to the website ranking.
The 2nd person that was interviewed is a Girl Guide leader that dare to stand up and speak and change the traditional way scouts were administered. She is Kathy Cloninger, the CEO of Girl Scouts America. As we all know, Scouts/Girl Guide has this traditional guidelines that is use to administer them. Well, most people are pretty comfortable with the way it is now particularly because they do not dare to accept changes and are afraid that the tradition of Girl Guide/ Scout may die off. Here is where the interesting part is. This woman, who is active in the girl guide movement foresees the need for changes to adapt to the face moving world. She saw the changes to be made in order to attract more young girls to join the girl guide but at the same time maintaining its traditions. As the world is rapidly changing, girls these days would not do stuff that Girl Guides did 50 years ago. These girls don’t want to be know of those who sells biscuits and attends camp fire but rather they want to be known as a group that bring an impression of highly independent and motivated girls that is daring and can take any challenge thrown to them. And so this brave woman stood out and speak the truth behind the flaws of the traditional system and introduce a whole new way of doing things. Now because of her, Girl Guide is once active and kicking with lots of activities especially outdoor activities, motivational conference and she also did a special part in reaching to the girls mum especially those who live behind bars and those who are in a place that posses danger to their lives. She just amaze me. Now, how am i going to change my scout movement too? xD hmm…
Ok back to the third guy. This guy is the founder of Brightcove.com which is a website that focus on videos delivering from publisher to users worldwide. He is Jeremy Allaire, the founder and CEO of Brightcove. What distinguish this website from Youtube.com is Youtube focuses on end user while they focuses on publisher. This website actually collets videos from various publisher and deliver them around the globe using the power of the internet. As video streaming is the next new thing, and as broadband is slowly booming with faster and faster speed ( except for Malaysia of course – Streamyx =_______=), he sees that this market has a potential in the internet market. Despite the fact that most company has million and millions of cash and tons and tons of ownership of delivery system such as Warner Bros – AOL and etc etc, as pointed out by Jack Green, he remains confident that Brightcove will succeed. His point was, all sector need specialization in their work. They need to outsource their work as they cant be spending funds and man power and certain sector that is beyond their job scope which is why Brightcove will succeed. Do you guys actually notice that his mind is brilliant because he can look beyond the box. He knows what other companies have in mind and he takes their thoughts and make it into a business idea. And after 3 years, his site is booming. And by the way, he is also the author of ColdFusion, the server side script that Marcomedia bought from him for a whooping 360million USD. He even joined Marcomedia and helped developed Flash.
This people just amaze me. =) The host, Jeff cracks a lot of jokes which amaze me cuz his jokes are relevant to the topic. Hearing all their inspiring story and how these people have actually made their dreams and random thoughts into brilliant business idea actually inspires me to strive for something better and of course maybe become someone like them. Gosh, they are filthy rich MILLIONAIR OK!

When will i ever be like them? Like those 4 from the above. TSK TSK TSK!
