Yea, that’s the HD decoder. So guys, what benefit you think you’ll get from Astro B.Yond?

First of all, i would like to ask, do you own a Plasma/LCD TV? If yes, do you own a home theater system. If you do, YOU ARE IN FOR A RIDE.

Which means if you are watching movies, you’ll get the exact same sound like when you are in the cinema! (Provided you must have a 5.1 speakers la). Oh yeah, Astro mentioned too that this decoder is hardware ready! So look out for more exciting features like IPTV. Cant wait to get my hands on one.

Album Review : Chris Brown’s Graffiti

January 9th, 2010, posted in Album Review, Random rants, Shennanigans

Barely two weeks after Rihanna released her brilliant album titled ‘RATED R’ that speaks on her blatant ill romance relationship with Chris Brown, this man is back and smoking! Yep, Brown made a comeback with the 3rd album of his career titled Graffiti. This album came only a few months after the 20 year olds ‘heroic incident’ that caused the world to view him with skepticism amidst his row with Rihanna.

So question is, will this album prove enough for him to make a worthy comeback and redeem himself in the public’s eyes? We’ll soon know.

They say first impression matters; as soon as i popped in the CD into my car stereo, “I Can Transform Ya” feat Lil Wayne caught in. And the rest was history. Although the other songs in the album are not all that perfect, nevertheless, the first impression got me going for more.

Acknowledging his effort to transform from a teen sensation to a more mature R&B singer, this album proved to be a success as you’ll discover that his vocals and the lyrics resides more towards love, girls, pain and relationship.

Yes, undeniably certain songs in this album is to score attention with the media especially with “Famous Girls” in which he admits his mistake on their relationship failure. If you check out the lyrics you could find something shocking. Hint: Disturbia. Then again, he also managed to prove himself in his maturity through his vocals on an epic ballad title “Crawl”. This piece might just be the center piece of the album and made it standout. Brown showcases his maturity very well in his vocals on this track. Its a slow paced track that has just that every tiny bits of power packed vocals that will awe you.

Apart from the Famous Girls track, for some reason, Brown tries to garner public sympathy and self pity in some of his tracks. “So Cold” “Lucky Me” and “Fallin’ Down” has the most obvious lyrics that tries to flirt with listeners to forgive him. Lyrics goes like this : “Why is it so easy for you to blame/I’m only human, we’re all the same,” ; “Can you forgive me?” ;

It just couldn’t get any worst. But ‘the incident’ aside, ‘Graffiti’ might not just be the album of the year, but his new adventure into adulthood demonstrated through his power packed mature vocals might just prove to be a stepping stone and an indicator of what to expect in near future. Despite being more of a marketing strategy than an EP, nevertheless its a good album especially for Brown fans. Although a few of his tracks are all for ‘the incident’ and the aftermath, there are not many recording artist out there that released an awesome album without having faulted with the public whether or not it concerns them. That being said, his album and his personal actions are two different matters and should not be confused with each other. So why not just put that aside and enjoy his music. After all, his tracks aint that bad yo.

My Verdict: 3.5/5

Spot on for : Mature R&B Fans.

Dump it if : You hate Brown! :p

Fuzzy Feeling Factor : I feel tingles

Fuzzy Feel Rating : Next please |  I feel tinges | Fuzzy to my Spine | Outta this world

p.s: I found some articles online that quotes :

If this album were by anyone other than Chris Brown, it would be the best R & B album of the last five years.

So you see, this album is the bomb if only people like him sees the music than the person itself. If Brown’s personal actions determines who he is in the music industry, then Eminem and Snoop Dogg should be burn in hell. Nuff said.

I got this comment for KJ’s website. Rembau.net. It was posted by one of his readers. I wont say much. You people decide yourself on this matter.

Many many years ago I did a unit on Islam at University as part of my Economics degree. Specialising in Middle eastern cultures and their economies I was fortunate to study under one eminent Professor. Therefore I say with authority that all middle eastern Arabs whether they are Arabic Christians such as Coptic Christians or Muslims, use the revered term “Allah” to refer to our Lord God. In South and Central Asia too all Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus and Baha’i use the term “Allah” or “Rab” or “Khudha” or “Bhagwan” or “Ishwar” among other endearing words in reference to our Lord God. I recall in my journeys in central asia and nothern India it was common to meet Hindus and Sikhs who were named after our Lord God,for example “Alla Singh” or “Allah Rakah”.
“Alla” or “Ulla” is an ancient endearing term used to call our Lord God by the ancient semitic peoples such as the Arabic people and their cousins the Yahudi people. To make a law that insists on people of a particular religion or community only can use the name “Allah” to describe our Lord God really baffles good reasoning. May common sense prevail “Insha Allah”.

House of Buffet tasting session!

January 9th, 2010, posted in Events, Food, Random rants, Shennanigans

Thanks to Ah Pop of http://smashpop.com, we bloggers get the opportunity to try some of the finest dishes in town. Buffet Style babeh! House of Buffet (HOB).

Its just next to Lowyat plaza, making it really convenient for patrons/shoppers to have their bite at anytime of the day. IMG_3871

Being the new kid on the block, we bloggers are expecting something really scrumptious and awesome while having out teeth sunk into the so called ‘fine dishes’. But before we get into that, lets look at the interior.

IMG_3859

The interior spots a really upper class environment for customers and a very cozy setting. When you step into this place, you could down right feel like its a fine dining restaurant, which in fact is not. What makes this place stands out is the decos and the design itself. Along the walkway and tableside, there’s a mini lake. It looks really elegant and it gives you the ‘upper class’ feeling. LOL

If I’m not mistake, this place has 5 sections; Japanese, Malay, Chinese Fusion, Salad Bar, Ice Cream Bar, Cake counter and Drink Counter tho the Tempayaki section is not open yet.

IMG_3694

The raw section of the Japanese Buffet.

IMG_3706

Nope. Not Good. Honestly, the sushi wasnt that fresh. Dont know why, but it seemed dryyyyy…. The raw section was good tho. The Salmon and the Ham is really tasty.

IMG_3711

The tempura and bilis was awesome. I love the bilis especially. Anchovies in English. LOL

IMG_3713

They served this to us. Coconut drink!!! Really cooling and refreshing. Especially when you know the air cond is not working at their place. =p

IMG_3715

I don’t eat muscles, but this muscles is not your ordinary muscles. It is cooked with cheese and man, i can eat this thang all night long. It has this fried feeling and the cheese just eliminates the smell away. Really awesome stuff.

IMG_3720

I dont know what is this, but the gravy has this sweet taste and it gives the chicken a lip smacking points from me. This chicken is ordinary but the gravy is its M15. Love this.

Salad Bar

IMG_3728

Now here comes their signature dish, specially prepared by the chef for us.

IMG_3779

IMG_3811

IMG_3849

I particularly love this dish. According to the chef, this is a Mexican influenced dish. The roll taste just like spring roll with a hint of some Mexican herds. Its exactly like the spring roll/popiah my grandma always make during festive season. Of course this is just my bias taste buds as i love popiah very much. =)

IMG_3827

HOB also serves Baskin 31 Robin ice cream and that’s the part we bloggers are looking forward to. Nevertheless, sorry to say, the cakes are not worth mentioning, so i wont post it up. =)

Overall, there’s room from improvement for this newly opened buffet style restaurant. It doesn’t has the wow factor but at the same time its not that bad. The dishes that i mentioned are worth your taste buds. Although the Japanese food section failed me, but at least the hospitality we received compensate for it. There are rooms for improvement and i wish you guys luck. Then again, thanks to SmashPop a.k.a Jason Goh and HOB for hosting us bloggers. It was an awesome night. We went home a happy man. LOL. Full and happy! weee. =)
