Kedai Kopi Tian Hong – Best Char Siew in town.

July 16th, 2009, posted in Food, ©FoodStuff

After hearing from food lovers/food bloggers who flock to Salak South Garden for the ever famous roast pork in town ( According to The Star Two), I’ve decided to drag my college mate along to sample the char siew. I am a fan of char siew myself and I’ve been anticipating to try out their version of the dish.

The shop name is Kedai Kopi Tian Hong. Its easy to spot as it is located just in front of 7-eleven along Jalan Tunku 2.

Its just a old coffee shop without a large attractive sign board, but the amount of crowd certainly drew curiosity from passer by and food lovers like us.

And so, we decided to try out the most talked about char siew in Salak South.

As usual, I don’t have my DSLR camera with me, as this eating session is just a random one.

So all pictures were taken with SE C905.

The shop is really crowded and i see people thronging this coffee shop every minute. They certainly have a lot of customers. This drew our curiosity even more as how ‘SEDAP’ their khinzir panggang is. xD

And for the sake of my readers, I ORDERED TWO PLATES of CHICKEN RICE AND CHAR SIEW FAN, each respectively. (See, i love you guys ok. xD)

The ever famous Char Siew of Salak South Garden.

Yes, i must give a double thumbs up (even better if i have more thumbs) to this char siew. The meat is sweet and sticky and its not like any other. I mean, the reason i love char siew is because of the sweet taste, but this char siew is more than just sweet. Its sticky and once it entered my mouth, it melts like caramel. Its just so tasty.

the ‘so-so’ Roast Chicken Rice

The chicken rice, i must say is not the best you can ever get. Its just below average and there is nothing to shout about. It particularly lacks of taste. Its more toward the tasteless side and my friends agree to that too.

So yeah , i guess this shop specialty is only the Char Siew. My advice to future patrons – Dont order the chicken rice or you will see yourself not steeping anywhere near their shop ever again. Its a bummer. What a total let down for a shop that is famous for their char siew.

As for their service, THEY SUCK BIG TIME.

This lady told my friend, ‘Milo takde la, takde masa nak buat. Minum Leong Cha la, sedap! ’ =_=

‘We don’t have Milo. I don’t have the time to make’

WTH?!!! Everyone was shock when she said that. =_= I mean how can she say that to a customer?! We didn’t want to create a scene so we just let do with Ice Tea. We observed her and guess what, all she does is stand around and pouring tea/water. And she say’s she dont have the time to make Milo?

WHAT FUCK?!

This gave us a bad impression. REALLY BAD IMPRESSION!

I hope if by chance the owner of the shop is reading this, PLEASE FIRE HER LAHHHH!! LAZY B!

Verdict:

Food : 3.5/5

Service: 2/5

Environment: 3/5

Overall : 3.5/5

Uncle Seng – Fresh OWN MADE noodle

May 19th, 2009, posted in ©FoodStuff

Last week my friends and i went head hunting for good food and we stumble upon a shop in SS15 – Uncle Seng Fresh Own Made Noodle.

Well, this shop, from the looks of it has been there for some time. And heck, i think a lot of you guys know where is this shop located especially those studying in Taylors or Inti.

And i even Googled about this shop and guess i am not the first to review about them =)

But heck, i am still gonna do a review for the sake of my dear readers. weeeeeeee.. =)

Ok this shop boast a wide selection of its self proclaim own made noodles.

During rush hour, it is really really crowded and don’t expect to find nice parking spot.

Oh well, you can always double park. xD

Ok back to noodles! Well there are plenty of variety of combination of dishes to choose from to accompany the noodles. I don’t know most of them. Didn’t bother to look and remember. Anyway this is what i ordered

DSC01086 DSC01100This noodle is Siew Yuk and  Bbq pork with Wantan.

Basically, the noodle is spongy but it is rather dry.

This dish has nothing much to shout about except for the fact that its siew yuk is quite delicious.

The wantan was rather… DRY?

And there isn’t black soya sos to accompany with this dry noodle.

And this is what my friend ordered. Notice that they char siew is gone? He love it too much i guess.

This noodle has shredded chicken, char siew and wantan.

Its almost the save as mine except the shredded chicken.

And yeah i notice i spelled noodle and shredded wrong in the watermark. xD

DSC01094 Good? Nah. Its okay. The food is not bad.

DSC01091 But he says its gooooddddd. LOL. Look @ his plate.

SEE? CLEAN! LOL

Anyway overall the food was okay. Its tummy filling and of course its not as bad as other noodle outlet ive tried. Except the fact that it taste a bit umm… plain… the char siew and siew yuk was superb. =)

oh yeah the soup suck. =)

here is the verdict

Greetings hyped people. Last Wednesday, my friend has this crazy idea out of a sudden to head to KLANG from Bukit Jalil (I am studying in APIIT) to feast on our all time favorite BAK KUT TEH!

Well you cant blame he, can you, especially when he is a Klang boy. Jason to be exact.
So we headed to where he stay, which is ………

So there is 6 of us including Jason’s GF.
Jason, Me,Dwayne, Andrew and Weng Seem
It took us 1 hour plus to get there.

This shop is near Taman Sentosa, Klang. Almost near to Jusco Aeon.

And its called Bak Kut Teh Yap EngRestoran signboard_watermarked

Umm, I dont know how to read chinese ( yeah yeah I am a banana =.=). But i do know its English name which is , …….

As you can see from the menu above, a dry Bak Kut Teh cost RM 9 while the one with soup cost RM 8. Per head.

And forgive me for the picture quality, i am using my friends camera phone. Its only 2 MP. I didn’t bring mine since this outing is a random thing. We are random freaks.=p

FYI this is my first time I’ve ever heard of dry Bak Kut Teh. All this while I have only heard of the Soup Bak Kut Teh.

I decided to give it a try.
