Aliff Aziz – It’s Aliff’s Time Album Review

February 22nd, 2010, posted in Album Review, Music

I bet all of you, my readers in particular, don’t listen to Malay songs right?! Most of us think that Malay song just suck big time. (Okay this question is for the girls =p ) But how can you tell if the album is good just by looking at the CD Cover?

info_aliffaziz[1]

You got it right! Because Aliff Aziz or his full name, MD Aliff Aziz is a cutie and he rock big time!

Aliff Aziz is from Singapore and is a product of Singapore’s reality tv talent show, Anugerah 2007. He was crowned the winner of Anugerah 2007 and has released 2 album ever since. His first self titled album secured him a huge fan base in Malaysia and Singapore with his chart toping single, Sayang Sayang, garnering supports from teenage girls in both countries.

2 years down the road, Aliff is back and smoking with his 2nd’ album, “It’s Aliff’s Time”. Spotting 7 songs in his album including a minus one track of his single, Cinta, this album is gonna prove that Malay songs can be smoking hot!

1. Cinta 2.Miliku Saja. 3. Boom Boom Boom 4. Kalau Cinta 5. Kau Yang Ku Mahu 6. Selintau Kau Pergi 7. Puteri Khayalan Ku 8.Cinta (minus one)

As usual, what else can a cutie like him sing other than love themed songs? All of his songs speaks on relationship, heartbreak and love. Now you wonder why all the girls are screaming his name.

His single in this album, Cinta is a chart topper and definitely pleasant to the ears. Spotting a catchy tune and simple lyrics, this hit talks about him waiting for him lover to come back to his arms. Another notable track is Kalau Cinta. Its a collabo track featuring Joanna from Joanna and Co (indie band). The song is also just another layback track and is good for light listening. The only fallback of this track is that, Joanna’s vocal is overpowering Aliff’s in the chorus. It more like Joanna feat Aliff instead of the other way round.

This is my favourite track in the whole album – Selintas Kau Pergi. This track might just be the killer track to shut his critics as his stunning vocals was clearly demonstrated here. This ballad track is the only track in the album that features his stunning voice and also the reason he won Anugerah 2007. The melody was oh-so-awesome and i think its even better than Cinta. Of course the lyrics are a little deeper than the others, but i enjoyed every tiny bits of it. This should be the single instead of Cinta. – “Daun- daun gugur jiwaku melayang, Dengan hati beku terjang badai” (If you are not well verse with BM, you wont understand this track)

All in all, Aliff Aziz might just be the guy who could change your perception on Malay songs. Of course, don’t expect chart toppers like Lady Gaga or the awesome Kris Allen type of genre. Just prepare yourself for some light listening and layback tune and you’ll definitely appreciate his songs. I know i did and hell yea, Aliff Aziz rock!

My Verdict: 4/5

Spot on for : Light listening

Dump it if : You just TOTALLY hate Malay Songs

Fuzzy Feeling Factor : Fuzzy to my spine!

Fuzzy Feel Rating : Next please |  I feel tinges | Fuzzy to my Spine | Outta this world

———————————————————————————————

p.s: The track Selintas Kau Pergi, the song writer is a Chinese! OMGOD! Wong Ka Kui. I salute your power packed BM!

KRIS ALLEN LIVE IN KL SHOWCASE

February 11th, 2010, posted in Events, Music

x`x AS PROMISED, KRIS ALLEN FANS x`x

Held at the Garden’s Ballroom, this showcase proved that Malaysians loves Kris Allen!!

IMG_8101

Over one thousand fans crowd the ballroom and enjoyed the 45minute next to nothing performance. It was one hell of a night especially the girls. Honestly, i thought the whole showcase was a big bang! Everything was perfectly executed. The crowd was hyped up and Allen defiantly did not disappoint them.

Hitz.fm Morning Crew kick things off with their attics and funny but lame jokes to keep the crowd cheering for Kris. IMG_8058 IMG_8059

IMG_8103

At 5 feet plus, Kris definitely is not the tallest American, but his voice and talent definitely brought the house down judging by the roars from his fans when he kicked things off.

The songlist :

Fearless, The Truth, Red Guitar, Alright with Me, Live Like We’re Dying , the Beatles’ Come Together.

IMG_8158

God knows how madly in love the girls are with this cutie.

IMG_8175

When Kris Allen came closer to the stage, every single girl in the ballroom went bezzerk and pushed to be in front to be able to touched his hands. Talk about worshiping Kris….

IMG_8238

His band. Very well done indeed. The performance was fantabulous. Imagine me being a guy, got blown away just by watching this cutie performing. His band definitely help lift his already energetic performance higher.

IMG_8277

The best part of all, Kris did the unexpected. CROWD SURFING!!!

IMG_8281

I can bet you, every single female fans there were going all crazy when he did that. IT WAS SUPERBLY INSANE. Too bad it is just a showcase. If it is a full fledge concert… i think he will be naked by then =p

IMG_8291

After ‘Live like we’re dying’ Kris then bid farewell to Malaysia before the fans demanded for more. Cheers and chants of Kris were heard all over the ballroom. The crowd were chanting “ We Want More ” and after a few minutes accompanied by JJ and Ean’s persuasive demand, Kris and his band members finally came up to perform the last 2 songs in which he end the night with his rendition of the beetles ‘Come Together’.

IMG_8294

The showcase was awesome but i am sure the crowd wasn’t really satisfied with his 45minutes performance. Even i admit I AM NOT! I want and hope he will come back for a bigger and better show! Cant wait.!

Kris Allen was the underdog at American Idol season 8. His win was at once a controversy as he was describe to be not as talented as the other 12 finalist. Nevertheless, his talent and his cute looks shut them up when he did his own rendition of Heartless in which it made it to the Billboard top 100.

During an interview at the press conference, Kris was quoted saying that winning American Idol is just weird. ‘“I don’t think anybody can explain it in a word. A couple of years ago, I was in a small apartment not doing anything. Then I got on a talent show and was lucky to get as far as I did.”

The Arkansas born lad is married to Katherine O’Connell.

Kris Allen’s latest single ‘Live like you’re dying’ is now a hit and has been receiving fair lots of airplay. His album has been a hit and currently at number 11 in Billboard 200. His self titled album is available at all music stores nationwide.

For those of you who would want to watch videos of him performing, here are the links. Videos recorded courtesy of http://joshuaongys.com and http://nigelais.blogspot.com
