I’ve been wanting to write this review for ages. I have lots to share with my dear earthlings readers about them.
As my loyal readers know, I’ve moved my blog from www.juicedout.co.cc to www.blog.flymenigel.com.
The reason is simple, that previous hosting company is a free hosting (www.000webhost.com). Which translates to poor reliability and frequent downtime. Its even vulnerable to attacks. Also it always restarts its SQL server every hour to free up RAM as some people are hosting a resources hogging website. But yeah its free, so I cannot complain much and I decided to move it to this local hosting company call Mercumaya.net

Mercumaya.net is a local base 100% bumiputera company. It uses TMNet’s facilities in Cyberjaya. Its head office is located at Gombak.
After scouting around for great deals, I finally decided to choose this company without consulting any of my friends as I thought this company could be trusted, so and so based on their ‘professional’ looking website. (looks can be deceiving). The deal was really irresistible but after sales is just not up to standard.
The deal offered :
- 20gb of Hard Disk space
- 150gb of bandwith
- Cpanel or Admin or Plesk
- 24/7 support
- Free lifetime domain
- Free tutorials
- Linux
- and the rest are just as same as other hosting company.
- The price?!!! Rm138 ONLY!
No other company in Malaysia offers a 20gb hard disk space and lifetime domain for only RM138. But Mercumaya just DID!
Why so cheap you ask? Now here’s the catch. Nothing in this world comes free or cheap without a catch except perhaps its from your dad,mum,girlfriend and whoever.
The catch is simple, YOU’VE GOT TO BARE WITH ITS SLOW AND UNHELPFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. AND YOU’VE GOT TO BARE WITH IF YOU FOUND SOME OF THEIR WORDS ARE JUST LIKE ROBBING YOU IN BROAD DAY LIGHT.
Here is my experience with them
- They don’t work on Saturdays or Sundays. I registered on Saturday and only Sunday night did they set up my account. I called their HOTLINE, they explained that they only work on 5 working days, starting Sunday midnight. But as far as I know, most hosting company set up your account immediately after payment was done. This company doesn’t. So yeah.
- On their website it stated that “Every packages comes with either Cpanel, AdminDesk or Plesk. But upon subscribing their package and being activated already, I discover that they only provide Cpanel. When enquired about the other two, AdminDesk and Plesk their answer was brief and short “ Those two are currently not available” without a clear explanation or what so ever. That just left me hanging and baffled over their after sales service. Is this how a company should really treat their customer? Before sales, everything they wrote was just eye catching and hard to resist. But after sales, everything they offer just vanished as if they have not said before.
- The customer service and support are just beyond par. Way way beyond par. Its even worst than TMNet which has always been our benchmark for bad customer service. Why do I say this? Well, every email I sent to them either takes at least 5 hours to be replied and some are even ignored! When i pursue the matter over the availability of the other two AdminDesk and Plesk, they literally ignored that ticket I’ve sent. Apart from that, they also reply my ticket very very briefly and without explanations for that present situation I’m facing. For Christ sake, I am your customer. Why cant you at least write something longer and have the courtesy to even explained to me about the current situation instead of just “ Hi, Please apply for new hosting. Thanks” Now do you understand how i feel when i was just feasted with such short and ‘encouraging’ emails?
- My Domain name. I registered a domain name under them and placed at the wrong column. I am supposed to place a new registration for domain but instead i placed it at the column that says I register that domain by myself. I didn’t know about my mistake until the third day. Before this I was left high and low as to why my domain is not registered yet. I emailed them asking how long it takes for MY domain to be registered and they say as soon as possible and it takes time to propagate and etc. I’ve emailed the so many emails about it, but they took such long time to reply and replied briefly. After 3 days, i finally asked them about the domain availability. I asked them ‘ 3 days has pass and its not propagate, why? I have registered a domain under you ‘ And finally they replied “ Sorry but you did not register a domain under us. If you forget to do so, please place a new order. Its free’ FOR CRYING OUT LOUD WHY THE HELL DID YOU TELL ME ONLY AFTER 3 DAYS?! That time i feel like digging their buthole out of their ass.
- Ok fine, after registering I have to change my main domain to this new domain that I’ve just registered and they told me I COULDNT unless i register for a NEW package. I lambasted at them and finally they gave me a new account for free. At least this was satisfactory. Only this part is.
- Oh yeah about their hotline, they took 1 minute 30 seconds to answer my call and he answer my call with a sleepy tone. He did not say those standard courtesy call for a customer service hotline. Instead he just said hello. Before hanging up he did not even utter a word like “ Thank you for calling so and so, Is there anything else I could assist you. Thank you for calling so and so. Have a goo day” Nothing not even a word and he hang up. I was really shocked at how he treated his customer. Is this how I am suppose to treated as your honorable customer? Really, this company really drive me nuts.
All in all, this company just suck ass. Really. There is not other words to describe this company. First the customer service replies email as slow as a snail can be. They don’t explained the current situation and they answer their hotline calls as slow as snail (AGAIN) and his tone of voice is like he just woke up, no courtesy call, nothing. My friend once did a search on websites hosted on their server and is practically all MALAY based website.
So I was just thinking, is it because I am a Chinese that these Bumiputera treat his Chinese customer like dirt? I am not trying to be racist, but i feel i was discriminated. I feel that they were being biased and racist to me in the first place. The manner which they handle my questions to the hotline calls and stuff, it just made me think that they are shunning me away and discriminating me as I am not a BUMIPUTERA, like them.
In case you are reading this CEO of MercuMaya.net please email me a lengthy explanation about your service. And i do expect an apology form you as I am really not satisfied with your service. I am a customer too just like any other. If you want to provide a 24/7 customer support please do it professionally and efficiently. And please treat your customer with respect regardless of their age race or gender. Thank you and I sincerely apologize if the choice of words i use may have offended you.
