MYSTUDIOC at HARD ROCK CAFE KUALA LUMPUR

My reader might have known that last week, Thursday there was Studio C at Hard Rock Cafe KL featuring two of the best local indie band Pesawat and Disagree! (both are my favourite!) and of course all the way from UK, The Applicants! Oh yeah i was there with the basist of an upcoming local band. Oh feel so proud =p =p =p haha. Its none other than Leonard Chua of Satu Kesalahan Yang Jujur (An Honest Mistake)

Arabyrd was the host for the night.

The first band that performed that night was Disagree..

You know.. the one that sang Crumbs!!

YEP THAT ONE! They are actually back last year with their latest single OSAKA.

Next up was Pesawat or as quoted by the lead singer – Aeroplane!

They sang they super sedap Mirage and an english number – Excuse Me. Both of the song rock ass. Never thought a band with (sorry to say lah… ) lame name can do such awesome tune. <3

The multitalented lead singer on keyboards.. You know, he can speak decent English.. – AWESOME! =)

Last but not least, The Applicants! Hailing all the way from UK, they prove to be the crowd favs with even ang moh (hokkien term for westerners) moshing on the super packed dance floor.

Oh yeah before i proceed, i am gonna warn you that this part will be a spamming picture section cuz theres so many pics i want you guys to see…! It was super crazy! The crowd, the cute but weird lead vocalist and of course the MUSIC and CUTE GUYS!

The Applicants from the UK really send waves that night as everyone was super hyped right from the start they strum that guitar. It was an awesome performance that got people for the very first time in my life, moshing in the bar!

But thats not all, the lead singer was… indescribable. She’s really……. uniques, weird, crazy but CUTE. Seriously.

She does all kinda faces and her dance moves were rather peculiar. But heck that got me interested to stay on and watch her.

Is that some kind of culture or something cuz i find it very very very weird.

Look at these combination of 4 pictures. She first showed that err.. mushy expression to the fans the she sang a tune and then she started doing that weird thing. I wanted to laugh my ass off when she did that. BUT HECK HER ‘STUNT’ works in hyping the crowd!

YUP! CRAZY WACKY B! =P Now thats UK people to you! LOL

WACKY B Aside. The first 3 songs performed by The Apllicants doesnt seemed sucky and quite good infact. I mean seriously, their band is not even in wikipedia. =p So i expected something like our local band.

But no, it was fantastic…!

Until their 4th song and the rest is history. They started to play hard rock and well, it doesnt suit most of our taste.

YUP! Even ang moh joined in the fun! He was damn sporting! Look below!

I think they are Irish. And the fella’s were moshing with the Moshers! DAMN GANAS!

Overall the gig was frigging awesome! Disagree and Pesawat really rock the show. Love them to bits. The Applicants came with a bang and entertained me especially the lead vocalist. CUTE, WEIRD, SEXY AND BITCHY = FUCKING AWESOME! The crowd were great, the lighting were awesome.. the only thing thats sucky is that my flash battery went dead at the 5th minute i enter the club! DAYMN!

Anyway, this Saturday is the finale of MyStudioC at KL Life Center featuring Pop Shuvit and two other imported bands. LOL So come catch me and lets party!

oh yeah……. that fella sure bug me if i did not mention….

AN HONEST MISTAKE WILL BE MAKING A GUEST APPREANCE AT THE FINALE OF MYSTUDIOC. SO MAKE SURE YOU ARE THERE TO CATCH MR. CHUA BRINGING KL DOWN WITH HIS BASSSSSSSSSS!

Spotting upcoming and established local bands, you bet its gonna be a good night!

Having going on since January, the only gigs left is Hard Rock Cafe which is tomorrow featuring Disagree and Pesawat, our home boys and a special performance hailing all the way from UK, The Applicants. On the 27th it will be at JB Discovery, JB featuring Killer Calculateur, Dragon Rez and Taiwan boys, Tizzy Bac. The finale’s venue says it all.. KL LIFE CENTER with our No. 1 Rock Rap band Pop Shuvit, Sunday Records from the Aussies and Moving Units from the States on the 6th of March!

Aliff Aziz – It’s Aliff’s Time Album Review

I bet all of you, my readers in particular, don’t listen to Malay songs right?! Most of us think that Malay song just suck big time. (Okay this question is for the girls =p ) But how can you tell if the album is good just by looking at the CD Cover?

You got it right! Because Aliff Aziz or his full name, MD Aliff Aziz is a cutie and he rock big time!

Aliff Aziz is from Singapore and is a product of Singapore’s reality tv talent show, Anugerah 2007. He was crowned the winner of Anugerah 2007 and has released 2 album ever since. His first self titled album secured him a huge fan base in Malaysia and Singapore with his chart toping single, Sayang Sayang, garnering supports from teenage girls in both countries.

2 years down the road, Aliff is back and smoking with his 2nd’ album, “It’s Aliff’s Time”. Spotting 7 songs in his album including a minus one track of his single, Cinta, this album is gonna prove that Malay songs can be smoking hot!

1. Cinta 2.Miliku Saja. 3. Boom Boom Boom 4. Kalau Cinta 5. Kau Yang Ku Mahu 6. Selintau Kau Pergi 7. Puteri Khayalan Ku 8.Cinta (minus one)

As usual, what else can a cutie like him sing other than love themed songs? All of his songs speaks on relationship, heartbreak and love. Now you wonder why all the girls are screaming his name.

His single in this album, Cinta is a chart topper and definitely pleasant to the ears. Spotting a catchy tune and simple lyrics,this hit talks about him waiting for him lover to come back to his arms. Another notable track is Kalau Cinta. Its a collabo track featuring Joanna from Joanna and Co (indie band). The song is also just another layback track and is good for light listening. The only fallback of this track is that, Joanna’s vocal is overpowering Aliff’s in the chorus. It more like Joanna feat Aliff instead of the other way round.

This is my favourite track in the whole album – Selintas Kau Pergi. This track might just be the killer track to shut his critics as his stunning vocals was clearly demonstrated here. This ballad track is the only track in the album that features his stunning voice and also the reason he won Anugerah 2007. The melody was oh-so-awesome and i think its even better than Cinta. Of course the lyrics are a little deeper than the others, but i enjoyed every tiny bits of it. This should be the single instead of Cinta. – “Daun- daun gugur jiwaku melayang, Dengan hati beku terjang badai” (If you are not well verse with BM, you wont understand this track)

All in all, Aliff Aziz might just be the guy who could change your perception on Malay songs. Of course, don’t expect chart toppers like Lady Gaga or the awesome Kris Allen type of genre. Just prepare yourself for some light listening and layback tune and you’ll definitely appreciate his songs. I know i did and hell yea, Aliff Aziz rock!
